UKSR Meeting Contractual Obligations

UKSR and Loke Marine Minerals (Loke) are pleased to announce the publication of the Inspection Report by the Secretariat of the International Seabed Authority (ISA) following the inspection conducted on UK Seabed Resources II on December 4 & 5, 2023. The inspection was coordinated by the Secretariat’s Compliance Assurance and Regulatory Management Unit (CARMU). The Authority did not observe any non-compliances during the inspection.

The purpose of the inspection was for ISA to obtain information relevant to the ongoing five-year contract period and to ensure that the planned exploration activities met both regulatory requirements and contractual obligations of the Contractor.

The inspection scope included organizational performance improvements, UK2 program of activity, technology development, and implementation of recommendations from ISA`s Legal and Technical Commission.

In our effort to fulfill our training obligation under the contact with ISA, UKSR and Loke have developed an online training platform in collaboration with the National Oceanography Centre in Southampton, UK. More information about the online training program can be found here.

UKSR and Loke appreciate CARMU’s recommendations in the Inspection Report. They will be taken into consideration as valuable input to our continuous improvement process. The Inspection Report can be found here.
