The Secretariat of the International Seabed Authority (ISA) is seeking a consultant for the preparation of a geological and habitat model for polymetallic massive sulfides (PMS) in the Area based on machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques.

The consultant should have requisite experience and expertise in:

  • marine seabed minerals, particularly PMS;
  • the geological modeling of mineral deposits based on artificial intelligence;
  • metallogenetic research, including ore-forming processes, geological and marine settings, and computer-based process modeling;
  • familiarity with mineral resource assessments;
  • the assessment of marine biodiversity and identification of habitats commonly associated with PMS occurrences; and
  • the definition of biogeographic areas based on the identification and forecast of the seabed, ridge-hosted habitat to prepare a draft geological model for the assessment of PMS occurrences in the Area of the seabed beyond national jurisdiction.

The consultant should possess the following:

  • good level of familiarization with the work of the ISA;
  • proven knowledge of geological modeling based on digital methods of artificial intelligence; and
  • proven knowledge of habitat and biogeographical modeling based on digital methods of artificial intelligence.
